Underwriter for a start-up
SUMMARY: Treaty underwriting and pricing according their underwriting guideline and develop profitable portfolio in close cooperation with Chief Underwriter.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under limited direction contributes in a busy start-up environment to the growth and profitability in Reinsurance, through marketing, underwriting, pricing and servicing specialized reinsurance products in Europe (main focus on Property Treaty Reinsurance).
Under the direction of the Chief Underwriter, devise and implement the underwriting strategy for the European operation (focus on Property Risk).
Conduct the company day to day underwriting and pricing activities for all product lines, for example, including underwriting audits, technical analysis and pricing, checking slip wording, special accepatances and endorsements, preparing for Underwriting result summary, portfolio analysis, data entry into the Company’s system, claim processing, checking and monitoring accounting numbers.
Working with the Chief Underwriter, ensure high profile market representation and business development, aligned to the Company’s products, risk appetite and technical capabilities
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum 6-10 years experience in Treaty reinsurance underwriting positions
High degree of Underwriting and Pricing skills for Treaty business
Established relationships with a broad range of European-based cedants and intermediaries
Detailed knowledge and understanding of global reinsurance/insurance market conditions
Broad knowledge of property and catastrophe reinsurance, as evidence by a demonstrable track record in growing reinsurance operations profitably
Previous experience in a business development role with a reinsurance company
Good working knowledge of property catastrophe pricing models
Strong computer, MS Office and particularly Excel skills
Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends and public holidays as necessary
